Although investor and occupier confidence in strong, one of the major challenges in the Cape Town market is the lack of large office developments that are attractive to large occupiers. Although the city saw the completion of almost 90,000sqm of developments in 2016, only two developments were over 10,000sqm and none reached 20,000sqm. This means that Cape Town is likely to continue to lose large occupiers to Johannesburg. Is this an opportunity that the city will pursue in the long run?
